Sustainable supermarket

If you’re staying at Soest, Amersfoort makes an enjoyable day out. Walk along inviting shopping streets and past historic buildings in the compact city centre.

The place where many Amersfoort folk can be found these days and somewhere well worth visiting is Het Lokaal, the trendy local supermarket.

The trendy local supermarket bakes bread, roasts coffee and brews beer on its own premises.

‘Fresh and local’ is Het Lokaal’s motto. In the former glue and soap factory, you can buy products, virtually all of which have been made within a fifty kilometre radius. The trendy local supermarket takes things even further by baking bread, roasting coffee and brewing beer on the premises. Het Lokaal stays open later on Friday evenings and you can also eat dinner there.

Hey, did you know?

Het Lokaal is part of De Nieuwe Stad (the new city), an innovative and vibrant place on the site of the former Oil Mill District. The occupants are a mix of companies from various business sectors ranging from catering to education, culture and services.
